Captain Duvan Stander brings an impressive combination of technical expertise, hands-on seamanship, and charter-focused professionalism to m/y Pier Pressure, making him exceptionally well-suited to lead week-long charters throughout the Bahamas. With over five years of progressively senior yachting experience—including First Mate/Engineer roles on 30m and 42m yachts—Duvan has built a strong foundation that blends navigation, engineering, tender operations, and guest-facing service. His background includes serving as Tender Captain for a 35’ Boston Whaler with extensive solo runs between islands, acting as relief captain at the dock for a full month, and managing bridge watches, passage planning, and watersports activities. His work has taken him across the Caribbean, Bahamas, Florida Keys, Panama, and the U.S. East Coast, giving him firsthand familiarity with the region’s anchorages, fishing hotspots, and guest-favorite destinations.
In addition to his deck leadership, Duvan’s engineering capabilities—ranging from rebuilding watermakers and servicing engines and generators to electrical troubleshooting and plumbing repairs—ensure that the vessel operates smoothly throughout every charter. Guests benefit from his calm, personable demeanor, strong work ethic, and enthusiasm for activities such as fishing, spearfishing, scuba diving, seabobs, wakeboarding, and general watersports. Certified with Yachtmaster 200T, EDH, AEC 1, PADI Rescue Diver, and multiple tender and PWC qualifications, he approaches guest safety and enjoyment with equal care.
