Sune grew up on the West Coast of South Africa, in the small coastal town of Langebaan, a popular kitesurfing destination. Before entering the yachting industry in 2020, she competed in kickboxing for over six years, earning three bronze medals at the South African Championships. She began her yachting career at just 18, straight out of high school, and has worked exclusively on yachts ever since.

Some of the well-known charter yachts Sune has worked aboard include M/Y GIOIA, M/Y MADSUMMER, and M/Y PHOENIX 2. Among her favorite private yachts are M/Y HAIDA 1929, an extraordinary 97-year-old world cruising vessel, and M/Y NURJA, known for its distinctive and unconventional design.

She is currently the Mate aboard M/Y INSIEME, where adaptability and understanding are among the greatest assets she brings to the team. Having worked on various yachts, she has developed a strong appreciation for the unique needs of each vessel, its crew, and its guests. She understands the importance of adapting to different onboard environments while maintaining high standards of service and professionalism.

Above all, she wants guests to have the best possible holiday experience, and making each charter so memorable that guests look forward to returning to the yacht time and time again.

Two of Sune’s favorite destinations are Tahiti and Alaska. Although vastly different, she finds both equally beautiful and is drawn to the calmness and tranquility of their remarkable landscapes.

Sune enjoys running, gardening, and photography. She considers herself a novelty seeker, constantly pursuing new skills and fresh stimulation. Recently, she has been exploring cooking classes, wine tasting, and floristry. She is also a newly qualified nail technician and is working towards further beauty qualifications, with the goal of opening her own salon in South Africa.

Sune’s life motto is: “If you can dream it, you can be it.”

Cindy has had a career in yachting since 2013, working in a range of roles including deckhand, stewardess, and delivery crew on both motor and sail yachts. She has experience with private and charter programs, and has worked multiple shipyard/refit periods, and completed several Atlantic crossings. She’s worked on vessels such as S/Y CATTITUDE, M/Y LADY L, S/Y TWILIGHT, S/Y G2, S/Y JULIET, M/Y TO LIFE, S/Y NAMASTE, M/Y STEP ONE, M/Y KAMOKA, M/Y LLANTHONY OF 1934, and currently on board M/Y INSIEME as Chief Stewardess.

In 2019, after seven years in yachting, she also began a land-based role as a private estate manager in Canada, which led to launching a wellness studio and a community-focused non-profit. These varied roles on land and at sea have strengthened her adaptability, leadership, and initiative, and reinforced her belief that warmth and professionalism go hand in hand.

Her experience has taught her that balancing confidence with self-awareness is essential, especially in a Chief Stewardess role where emotional intelligence and presence matter as much as skill. She is a kind, warm, grounded, and composed professional, driven by curiosity and a love of adventure. She brings enthusiasm, integrity, organization, and the ability to build strong, genuine connections to every charter. She also provides guests fitness and yoga classes to make each charter even more special and balanced.

In her personal life she’s passionate about staying active through running, hiking, diving, paddle-boarding, and other forms of fitness. She loves cooking and enjoys taking on new challenges. This path has allowed her to travel, explore different cultures, and pursue ongoing personal and professional development, including specialized training in yoga and mental health. Curious and energetic, she’s an early riser who values movement, adventure, and continual learning.

A beautiful quote from a previous Captain she worked with: “If you stand still long enough in her presence you will get cleaned, too.”
